Last time I checked, men and women are not a different species. According to that book we may have come from a different planet but anatomically (apart from the baby parts) we are pretty similar. When fitness and strength training I often come across a fairly common perception that women should be training in a completely different way to men and that they should avoid any weight training because they might get to muscular. As I write this I and nodding my head, the simple notion that some people think women should train different and are less capable amazes me. Fortunately with the rise of companies like crossfit the idea that women are less capable is being washed away by an army of lean and mean lady machines. The majority of my clientele are female, this is not something that I chose to do and I do not promote myself as anything other than a personal trainer for humans interested in rising to there potential. However for the last 15 years a large part of my life has been spent training women. I have always treated them in the same way as I train my male clients, at first some of the women question why they are doing the same things as they see me doing myself and with my male clients, but fairly soon they realize that strength and muscle are there new best friend. Hormonally the ladies are very different, this does make them less prone to muscle building, it does not however hinder them in changing there bodes to a solid, functional and strong calorie burning machine. Men have a much higher testosterone level so the muscle they build usually sticks and as long as they are progressive with there training they will slowly get bigger. With progressive, functional strength training women’s bodies shift over to a much higher ratio of muscle to fat, therefore helping them burn more calories and look more toned. Muscle needs food to survive whereas fat is food, so a solid body will allow you to eat a lot more of that healthy nutritious food and with the increase in exercise calories you will never need to be on the starving yourself diet ever again. Training with Leigh Carter Personal Trainer Milton Keynes & West Milton Keynes will teach you how to use your body in an effective way, correcting all your imbalances and working towards a more muscular framework. This does not mean that you are going to look like a bodybuilder, it simply means that those wobbly bits will no longer wobble and that thing you couldn’t pick up is now light enough to lift over your head with a smille on your face. Training is fun, effective and simple, you won’t be doing girl pushups you will be doing pushups.
