I was contacted a while ago by a lady from Shaw TV to be part of her show on healthy living in the Okanagan. Last week I spent an afternoon filming my two sections for the show, one was up on the top of bear creek and the other using my personal training studio in Milton Keynes. Both sections were focused on strength training and the importance of it as you age. I was asked to demonstrate some basic exercises and talk about why I felt strength training was important. The show should be airing in january so I will keep you informed as and when. After it airs it may be hard to get hold of me as ill probably be getting offers from Hollywood etc due to my good looks and stage presence.
Strength training is very important as you age, whilst talking on the show the subject of you tube videos come up, the ones where the 80 year old lady is doing push-ups or the 100 year old man is running a marathon. Most people seem to think that these videos demonstrate “FREAKS OF NATURE” but when you read up on the people in them you start to realise something a lot simpler. The people in these videos have been doing push-ups every day or regularly running marathons there whole life, for this reason they are still capable of these impressive feats. My point here is, if you continue to ask your body to do things it will continue to respond, it does not matter how old you are. Strength training should be a part of your daily life and as you age you will allways be strong and capable of anything that you have always been able to do.
