The clean year start
If you don’t already know, my wife and I are planning to spend the entire of next year without a eating any processed food whatsoever or drinking any alcohol. If you CLICK HERE and HERE you will see my previous articles about this.
This is now something we are regularly talking about, initially when you think about this it seems quite simple and should require no planning and I suppose you are right, the rules are very simple so why plan ?
Planning is essential for diets as without correct structured planning you are liable to fail or for it to be no fun. At christmas we will be visiting Paulinas (my wife) mum for celebrations and in january we will be travelling over to England to visit my family for our annual holiday. Both these events will be about food drink and fun. We have decided to start our diet after these two events as we have both not seen our families for a long while and would like it to not be all about what we can and can’t eat. I fully understand that some of you are reading this and thinking that if you are going to do it you should just do it and this would be one of the situations that you would have to deal with, but the thing is this will be the first time we visit since we left over a year ago and I’m just not ready to be the person who can’t eat my families lovely cakes yet, after a year of doing it I’m sure I will feel completely different.
So last night we started to talk about how we will begin this journey into clean living, I proposed that we treat the first month as almost a cleanse, while I don’t subscribe to the word cleanse within the diet world, it does seem to fit in to this situation. After christmas and a holiday full of all kinds of cakes and booze, I think that just going cold turkey for a while will serve us well in the long run. I would like to have a pretty much set menu for about a month that is easy to cook, requires no thinking and resets our tastebuds. After that month we will be very much ready to start to experiment a little with the cooking and having had a pretty plain month of food will appreciate the change a lot more. So it looks like Oats for breakfast, green veg and chicken will be about all that passes our lips for the initial section.
